According to the Center for Disease Control, each year one in every three adults age 65 or older will fall. Falls can cause moderate to severe injuries, such as hip fractures and head injuries, and can increase the risk of early death. Fortunately, falls are preventable.
Patients attending Walk Safe sessions will attend 2-3 times per week and participate in a number of activities designed to improve the patient's balance and safety awareness in the home and the community.
Patients will wear a safety belt and are closely guarded by our professional staff while navigating through activities to simulate walking through various environments, i.e. unsteady surfaces, stairs, and curbs.
